Horrific scene erupts as unknown assailant targets innocent victims on London street

In a shocking incident that sent shockwaves through Clapham, South London, a disturbing acid attack unfolded on Lessar Avenue, leaving nine people, including two young children, rushed to the hospital. The assailant is currently on the run, triggering a manhunt by the Metropolitan Police.

Witnesses described a chaotic scene on the busy street as a man attacked a vehicle carrying a mother and her two children, dousing them with a corrosive substance. The assailant fled the scene, leaving victims in distress and prompting a massive emergency response.

The mother and her two young children were quickly taken to the hospital, while three additional individuals, who came to their aid, were also admitted. Miraculously, three police officers responding to the incident sustained minor injuries. Detectives are working tirelessly to track down the suspect, believed to be responsible for this appalling crime.

The incident, which occurred around 7:30 pm, saw a fight between a man and a woman, culminating in the man forcibly removing a child from the vehicle and slamming her onto the ground. Witnesses reported hearing the distraught mother screaming for help and pleading for police intervention.

London Fire Brigade was summoned to the chemical incident, providing emergency care to the victims. Specialized equipment was employed to detect the corrosive substance used in the attack.

Detective Superintendent Alexander Castle stated, “While tests are ongoing to determine the substance, at this stage, we believe it to be a corrosive substance. A man was seen fleeing the scene. We are drawing on resources from across the Met to apprehend this individual.”

The London Ambulance Service confirmed responding to the incident on Clapham Common South Side, dispatching multiple resources, including incident response officers and a hazardous area response team. Five individuals were taken to a major trauma center, and others were treated at the scene.
