Sharon Osbourne shares emotional account of the hidden fall that started Ozzys final decline

Sharon Osbourne has tearfully revealed that her husband Ozzy suffered a hidden fall late last year which she believes triggered a tragic chain of health problems in the months before his death. Speaking on The Osbournes podcast, the family gathered for their first joint episode since the rock icons passing and Sharon described the moment that marked the beginning of what she called a heartbreaking domino effect.

Ozzy Osbourne died in July following a heart attack at the age of seventy six. His family had already spoken about a steady decline in his health in the months before he died, but this is the first time they have discussed the fall that happened privately and remained secret until now. Sharon said the family had planned a holiday trip to Finland early in December, but Ozzy decided to stay behind because he was unwell.

According to Sharon, the fall happened during the first week of December. She said he told her repeatedly that his back hurt but did not reveal the full seriousness of what had happened. She recalled leaving for Finland on the tenth of the month with the assumption that he would join them later. Instead he was taken to hospital.

Sharon spoke through tears as she shared how the accident had been kept quiet at the time. Her son Jack explained that his father had always struggled with pain but often hid how badly he felt. He said Ozzy did not tell anyone he had fallen and that the truth only became clear after doctors found a fracture in one of his vertebrae.

Jack added that his father often tried to cope without seeking help and called him a gentleman who did not want to worry others. Sharon said that given his age and his long history of medical challenges, including a past fall that dislodged metal rods in his back, the fracture was unlikely to heal. She said a full recovery would have required a miracle.

Jack said the fall set off the domino effect that eventually led to Ozzys decline. Soon after the accident, he developed pneumonia and required surgery. His health deteriorated throughout the months that followed until he died in July.

During the episode Sharon admitted her sleeping patterns have been affected since her husbands death. She said nights are difficult and Kelly added that mornings are the hardest because she sometimes wakes up forgetting for a moment that her father has gone. Kelly said the overwhelming outpouring of love from fans has been an immense comfort at a time when the family has been struggling with grief.

She said the family had no idea how much Ozzy was adored around the world and that hearing from fans has made them feel less alone. Sharon agreed and said Ozzy never realised how deeply he was loved. She described him as someone who never took his fame for granted and never believed he was larger than life. She said that humility was one of the qualities she cherished most about him.

The emotional episode marks the first time Sharon, Jack and Kelly have spoken together at length about the private moments leading to Ozzys final months. They said sharing the truth has been painful but also important in helping them process the loss of the man they loved so deeply. For fans the revelations shed new light on the difficult period that preceded the death of one of rock musics most legendary figures.
