The singer opens up about life lessons, her Grammy win, and celebrating her 48th birthday on stage
Shakira’s Grammy speech highlighted the life lessons she learned after her split from Gerard Piqué. Speaking at the 2025 Grammy Awards, she reflected on personal growth, calling life a valuable teacher despite its challenges.
“I’ve grown a lot. I’ve learned a lot of lessons,” Shakira admitted. “Life hasn’t always been kind, but it’s been a good teacher.”
The Waka Waka hitmaker also shared her thoughts on celebrating her 48th birthday at the prestigious music event, calling it a “gift.” She pointed out the coincidence of major career milestones aligning with her birthday, recalling her Super Bowl halftime performance five years ago.
“It’s a coincidence that these big moments always happen on my birthday. Maybe it’s some sort of heavenly present,” she mused.
The night was particularly special for Shakira, as she took home the Best Latin Pop Album award for Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards. In her acceptance speech, she dedicated the win to immigrants and hardworking women around the world.
“Wow, this is incredible,” she said, overwhelmed with gratitude. “I want to dedicate this award to all my immigrant brothers and sisters in this country. You are loved. You are worth it, and I will always fight with you.”
She also paid tribute to working women, saying, “To all of those women who work really hard every day to provide for their families, you are the true heroes. So this is for you, too.”
Shakira’s emotional speech and heartfelt reflections underscored a transformative period in her life. Despite personal struggles, she continues to rise, proving that resilience, passion, and dedication can turn even the toughest lessons into triumphs.
