The festive cheer in ‘Beyond Paradise’ took a summery turn as lead actor Kris Marshall shared a scorching secret from the set. Despite the jingle bells and fake snow, filming a Christmas episode amid summer heat left the cast sweating it out in winter gear.

Marshall, the man behind DI Humphrey Goodman, cleverly dodged the discomfort, insisting his character stick to his signature t-shirts and shorts. “Humphrey wouldn’t wear coats or jumpers,” he quipped, sharing how he had to act chilly despite the toasty conditions.

“We were filming a Christmas market scene in Looe, with fake snow and jingle bells, while folks in their beach attire sunbathed just feet away,” Marshall revealed, painting a picture of the quirky shoot’s contrast. “After wrapping up the Christmas episode, you could head straight to the beach!”

‘Beyond Paradise’ follows Humphrey’s retreat to Devon post-detective life, yet local crime soon reels him back into action. Despite hoping for tranquility, he’s thrust into cracking cases anew.

Marshall expressed gratitude for landing a Christmas special after just one season, calling it a “great honor” for the show’s fresh start. “To get that at the end of our first series was a real boon for us,” he shared, clearly thrilled by the surprise nod from the TV powers that be.”
