Researchers utilize advanced technology to visualize impact on surroundings and human safety
In a chilling revelation, researchers from the University of Nicosia (UNIC) in Cyprus have utilized advanced computer modeling to simulate the potential aftermath of a nuclear explosion, shedding light on the devastating impact it could have on its surroundings.
Titled “Nuclear explosion impact on humans indoors,” the study investigated the repercussions of an atomic bomb explosion caused by an intercontinental ballistic missile. The team created two videos showcasing the alteration in temperature and the sheer force generated by the explosion, impacting both buildings and people.
The simulation provides a harrowing view from the ground, depicting a man standing near a building in a city. As the explosion occurs in the distance, clouds of smoke rise, initially leaving the surroundings seemingly unaffected. Suddenly, debris explodes, illustrating the potential devastation.

He stated, “Our study shows that high airspeeds remain a considerable hazard and can still result in severe injuries or even fatalities.”
The study also offers guidance on safety measures, with Dr Ioannis Kokkinakis advising individuals to avoid critical indoor locations, including windows, corridors, and doors. Dr. Kokkinakis suggests taking shelter and positioning oneself at the corners of walls facing the blast, even in the front room.
As tensions and global concerns persist, such simulations provide valuable insights into potential scenarios, urging societies to prioritize preparedness and safety measures in the face of potential nuclear threats.
