Father of rapper Sauce Walka speaks out after targeted shooting leaves one dead and another wounded

Rapper Sauce Walka is recovering after being shot in what police are calling a targeted attack outside a Memphis hotel. The shooting, which occurred Saturday afternoon, left one man dead while another, now identified as the Houston-born rapper, sustained a gunshot wound to the thigh.

The Memphis Police Department (MPD) confirmed that the incident happened at 2:42 p.m. local time near the 100 block of George W. Lee Ave. Authorities swiftly responded to reports of gunfire, discovering one fatality at the scene and another individual who was transported to the hospital in non-critical condition.

Although police initially withheld the identities of those involved, Sauce Walka’s father later confirmed that his son was the surviving victim. In an emotional statement to KHOU, Houston’s CBS affiliate, he credited divine intervention for saving his son’s life.

“Had it not been for God, my son would’ve been dead,” he said.

Authorities have assured the public that the attack was not a case of random violence, but rather an isolated incident where the victims and suspects were known to each other.

“We want to assure our community and visitors that downtown Memphis is a safe place. This incident was not a random act of violence,” the MPD stated.

While details about the motive remain undisclosed, law enforcement has identified the suspect’s vehicle and is actively pursuing an arrest.

Born Albert Walker Mondane, Sauce Walka, 34, is a Houston-based rapper known for tracks like ‘Texas Cyclone’ and ‘Where Was You At’. Over the years, he has gained recognition for his collaborations with Megan Thee Stallion, Travis Scott, and Migos.

As investigations continue, fans are rallying behind the rapper, wishing him a speedy recovery while awaiting further updates on the shooter’s capture.
