Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo’s viral dance at Buckingham Palace earns cheeky royal reply
The royal family doesn’t usually comment on viral social media content—but Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo have managed to break protocol in the most playful way.
The former Made in Chelsea stars sparked smiles and laughter across Instagram this week after posting their own spin on Meghan Markle’s now-famous “Baby Mama Dance.” The couple, expecting their first child together, filmed the clip inside Buckingham Palace, where they were attending a celebration for The King’s Trust charity.
Sophie, glowing in a yellow gown and proudly displaying her baby bump, stood gracefully on the palace’s velvet stairs as Jamie danced enthusiastically around her to the “Mic Drop Mama” soundtrack. Captioning the clip, Jamie wrote, “They said we couldn’t film inside the palace.” But they did—and the royals noticed.
To everyone’s surprise, the official Instagram account of the royal family dropped a rare and cheeky comment: “We see you 👀😉.” It didn’t go unnoticed. The King’s Trust also chimed in with a wry, “All of our attendees are very well-behaved.”
It’s a rare moment of royal banter—especially considering the dance was inspired by Meghan Markle herself. Earlier this month, Meghan posted a throwback video of herself dancing with husband Prince Harry in hospital while heavily pregnant with daughter Lilibet, in honour of the little girl’s 4th birthday.

Busting out the “Baby Mama Dance.”
She followed the post with another heartfelt moment: a sweet photo of her and Lilibet snuggled up on a boat ride. “Happy birthday to our beautiful girl,” Meghan wrote. “Each day is brighter and better because of her.”
Meghan, who now balances motherhood with her lifestyle brand As Ever, often speaks about her devotion to her children. In a recent interview on The Jamie Kern Lima Show, she said: “I know that they’ll feel like, ‘No one has ever loved someone more than the way our mum loved us.’”
“It’s not about grandeur,” she added. “It’s about showing up, nurturing them, seeing their growth—and being proud of them every single day.”
The viral video from Jamie and Sophie seems to have struck a chord not only with fans but with the royal family as well—evident from the rare digital thumbs-up. That kind of public interaction, even playful, is a modern touch from a family typically known for its reserve.
With Sophie’s due date approaching, the couple has embraced every moment of their parenthood journey in the most joyful fashion. Their Buckingham Palace dance wasn’t just a nod to Meghan—it was a jubilant celebration of impending parenthood in its own right.
And it seems the Windsors, or at least whoever handles the royal Instagram account, appreciated the gesture just as much as fans did.
