The Blackpink star’s viral collaboration with Bruno Mars has cemented her place in K-pop history with a groundbreaking achievement.
Blackpink’s Rosé has shattered a significant record with her hit single “Apt.,” from her solo album Rosie. The track, featuring Bruno Mars, made history when its music video hit 900 million views on YouTube on 19 January, marking the fastest achievement of its kind in K-pop history.
Released on 18 October, it took just 92 days for the music video to reach the remarkable milestone, surpassing the previous record held by Psy’s “Gangnam Style,” which took 144 days to hit 900 million views back in 2012. “Apt.” now joins an exclusive club of music videos to reach the 900 million mark, alongside global hits like Adele’s “Hello,” Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You,” Luis Fonsi’s “Despacito,” and J Balvin’s “Mi Gente.”
In addition to her record-breaking success, Rosé recently addressed rumors surrounding her personal life. During a lie detector test for Vanity Fair, she denied speculations that her song Toxic Till The End was about her rumored relationship with Jaden Smith, the son of actor Will Smith. Despite the ongoing rumors fueled by her close friendship with Jaden, Rosé confirmed that she and Jaden had never dated, giving him a public shout-out during the interview.
With the success of Rosie and Apt., Rosé’s solo career continues to soar, solidifying her status as one of the most influential artists in the global music scene.
