Robert Pattinson admitted Zendaya had to talk him down after he obsessed over a scene’s meaning.
Robert Pattinson found himself spiralling over a scene in The Drama—until Zendaya stepped in to save him.
The 38-year-old actor, best known for The Batman and Twilight, revealed in a recent interview with Premiere magazine that he spent three days obsessing over a scene’s meaning before turning to Zendaya for help.
“We had a scene together that was driving me crazy,” Pattinson admitted. “I was desperately looking for its meaning, to the point of writing pages and pages of textual analysis.” Overwhelmed, he called his co-star the night before filming to discuss his confusion.
For two hours, Pattinson poured out his thoughts, convinced the dialogue had hidden layers. But Zendaya, ever the voice of reason, finally put him at ease. “After a while, very calmly, she made me understand that the line just said what it meant to say, that there was no hidden meaning,” he recalled.
Pattinson laughed at himself, acknowledging that he tends to “bang [his] head against walls” over small details. “There I was, going crazy for three days… sometimes for no reason.”
Directed by Dream Scenario filmmaker Kristoffer Borgli and produced by Ari Aster, The Drama is a rom-com about a couple whose relationship takes an unexpected turn before their wedding. The film also stars Mamoudou Athie and Alana Haim, though its release date remains unconfirmed.
While Pattinson may have driven himself to the brink over a single scene, Zendaya’s calm, collected approach proved invaluable—showing once again why she’s one of Hollywood’s most sought-after stars.
