Rihanna slams an Instagram page for using AI to mimic her voice in a viral video about her wealth

Rihanna has had enough of artificial intelligence hijacking her voice. The 36-year-old music icon and beauty mogul lashed out at an Instagram post that featured an AI-generated version of her voice narrating a video about her lavish spending habits.

On February 5, she took to Instagram to express her outrage, commenting under the post, “Who tf is this talking?!” The video, posted by @thescrolltv on January 31, titled “Rihanna’s Most Expensive Purchases,” used AI to mimic her voice, making it seem as though she was listing her extravagant buys.

The clip featured footage from Rihanna’s 2023 Apple Music Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show press conference. The fake narration claimed she had splurged on a $13.8 million Beverly Hills mansion with breathtaking views and a $1 million crystal-embellished Bösendorfer piano. The account had already admitted in the comments that the voiceover was AI-generated, but Rihanna’s reaction propelled the controversy further.

Her comment was pinned by the account, fuelling debate about AI’s growing influence and ethical concerns regarding its use in digital content. Fans flooded the comment section, with some supporting Rihanna’s anger while others debated whether AI-generated content should require explicit disclaimers.

The rise of deepfake technology and AI-generated voices has alarmed celebrities, raising questions about consent, authenticity, and potential misuse. As AI-generated content becomes more sophisticated, public figures like Rihanna are making it clear—they won’t stand by while their voices are cloned without permission.
