Rahat’s “Legacy of the Khans” UK tour draws 12,000 in London and showcases son Shah Zaman’s debut.
Legendary vocalist Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has once again etched his name into music history with a record-breaking UK tour that saw three sold-out performances in Birmingham, London, and Manchester. His show at London’s iconic Wembley Ovo Arena was the pinnacle—drawing nearly 12,000 fans in a breathtaking display of Qawwali fervour and Sufi spirit.
This marked Rahat’s triumphant return to London after a two-year hiatus, and he proved why he continues to reign as the undisputed King of Qawwali. From timeless spiritual renditions to Bollywood favourites, the energy in the arena never dipped as fans sang and danced through every beat.

Speaking after the tour, Bhola called Rahat’s success “a testament to pure artistry,” noting that “it’s the artist and his band that truly deserve the applause.” He added, “Rahat’s voice transcends borders and generations—he has captured hearts all over the world.”
But the night at Wembley offered more than just nostalgia. For the first time, Rahat’s 20-year-old son Shah Zaman Ali Khan joined him on stage at the legendary venue, drawing thunderous applause for his solo Qawwali performances. Singing five songs with a poise far beyond his years, Shah Zaman instantly sparked comparisons with the iconic Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan—Rahat’s late uncle and Shah Zaman’s great-uncle.
In a touching moment backstage, Rahat shared his pride with Geo News. “The response at all three UK shows has been phenomenal,” he said. “It’s every artist’s dream to perform in London, a city that brings together people from every culture. To see Shah Zaman being so warmly received—singing the qawwalis and ghazals of our elders—it was emotional. God willing, he will carry the legacy forward.”
Shah Zaman’s vocals, reminiscent of his illustrious lineage, won praise across social media as fans lauded his soulful renditions and stage presence. As he performed classics with Rahat supporting him in the background, the symbolic passing of the torch was felt strongly.
Rahat’s weekend tour kicked off in Birmingham on Friday, hit a peak in London on Saturday, and concluded with another packed-out show in Manchester on Sunday night before he jetted off to Spain for his next international stop.
The shows were a blend of traditional Qawwali, stirring ghazals, and the modern cinematic anthems that have cemented Rahat’s position as a global music icon. Songs like Tere Mast Mast Do Nain, Sajda, Dil To Baccha Hai, and Teri Ore had fans singing at the top of their lungs, while his more spiritual tracks cast a mesmerising spell.
Having recorded over 50 albums and sold out arenas across the globe, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan continues to be a powerful ambassador of South Asian music. His performances not only entertain but bridge generations and geographies through the emotive force of song.
With this tour, he has not only reaffirmed his own place on the world stage but introduced a new voice—his son Shah Zaman—whose journey as a torchbearer of the Qawwali legacy now begins.
