The couple’s rebranded website and updated titles for Archie and Lilibet Spark debate and division

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have made headlines once again, this time for changing their children’s surnames on their newly launched website, sussex.com. Breaking a 64-year-old royal tradition, the couple’s children, Archie and Lilibet, will now be known by the surname Sussex, rather than Mountbatten-Windsor, as was previously decreed by the Privy Council in 1960.

The couple’s decision to use their children’s royal titles on the website has sparked controversy, with some accusing them of boasting about their royal connections. However, a source close to the couple explained that the change reflects the family’s unification under the same surname for the first time since the King’s coronation, calling it a proud moment for the family.

The new website features detailed bios for Prince Harry and Meghan, describing their life in California with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. The use of the prince and princess titles for Archie, aged four, and Lilibet, aged two, has raised eyebrows, as they were not given these titles at birth due to their status as grandchildren of the monarch.

The couple’s recent activities have included a publicity blitz and a visit by Prince Harry to the UK to see his father, King Charles, following his cancer diagnosis.

Despite their public appearances, Meghan Markle has reportedly felt ‘disconnected from the situation’ after Prince Harry’s family reunion
