The Duke of Sussex focuses on charity and candidly addresses speculation about his marriage as Meghan Markle dazzles at a Los Angeles Gala
Prince Harry has firmly quashed divorce rumours during a busy day of engagements in New York, emphasising his commitment to his family while pursuing independent ventures.
The Duke of Sussex began his day at The New York Times Dealbook Summit, where he addressed ongoing public scrutiny surrounding his marriage to Meghan Markle. Laughing off the rumours, Harry said, “Apparently we’ve moved house or divorced 10 or 12 times. It’s just like, ‘What?’” He added with empathy for online trolls fuelling the speculation: “Their hopes are built and built, and it doesn’t happen. I genuinely feel sorry for them.”
Later, Harry attended the opening of Friend: A Survey of Op Art and Minimalism at the Ki Smith Gallery. The event aimed to raise funds for Sentebale, the African charity he co-founded in 2006 to support vulnerable children affected by HIV in Lesotho. Harry mingled with artists and guests, viewed the contemporary collection, and spoke passionately about the charity’s mission.
Meanwhile, Meghan Markle, 2,500 miles away in Los Angeles, dazzled at The Paley Honors Gala. Dressed in a strapless black Oscar de la Renta gown with a dramatic slit, she appeared alongside close friend and filmmaker Tyler Perry. The Duchess smiled for photographers and shared her evening with Perry, who has been a steadfast supporter of the Sussexes.
When asked why he was in New York rather than Los Angeles, Harry quipped during the Summit: “Because you invited me, you should have known.” His humour highlighted the couple’s evolving professional focus, with reports suggesting they are pursuing more individual business and charity projects.
Despite the physical distance during these engagements, Harry’s remarks at the Summit underscored his steadfast dedication to Meghan and their children. “My focus is being the best husband and the best dad that I can be,” he said.
The duke also addressed speculation about a potential return to the UK, confirming there were no immediate plans due to ongoing security concerns. Harry remains deeply involved in Sentebale’s work, which has grown since its founding nearly two decades ago, focusing on access to health services and social support in Lesotho and Botswana.
Harry’s New York appearance coincided with Meghan’s own flourishing presence on the West Coast. While some questioned their separate events, both engagements showcased the Sussexes’ enduring commitment to philanthropy and public impact.
As the art exhibition gears up for its public opening on 14 December, the spotlight remains on Prince Harry’s steadfast approach to silencing critics. By addressing speculation head-on and championing causes close to his heart, Harry reaffirms his priorities: family, charity, and forging a path that reflects their shared values.
