Prince Harry reacts to King Charles’ alleged plan to send Prince Andrew to frogmore cottage, expressing disappointment over losing their UK base
Prince Harry’s response to King Charles III’s reported decision regarding Prince Andrew has been unveiled, revealing his dismay over the potential relocation of his uncle to Frogmore Cottage, the former residence of Harry and Meghan in the UK.
The Duke of Sussex is said to be displeased with his father’s purported intention to allocate Frogmore Cottage to Prince Andrew, considering it to be the last link to the UK for him and Meghan.
Embed from Getty ImagesRoyal expert Tom Quinn shed light on Harry’s sentiments, stating, “However strained his relationship with his father and brother may be, Harry harbored hopes of reclaiming Frogmore Cottage at Windsor as a base for himself and Meghan in the UK.”
“Learning of the possibility of his uncle Prince Andrew occupying Frogmore Cottage is deeply distressing for Harry, especially since King Charles is adamant that Andrew cannot continue residing at Royal Lodge, his long-time residence on the Windsor estate,” Quinn informed Mirror.
It’s worth noting that Frogmore Cottage was bestowed upon Meghan and Harry as a wedding gift by the late Queen Elizabeth II. The couple undertook a £2.4 million renovation to transform the historic four-bedroom dwelling into their home. They resided there from 2019 until their announcement to step back as senior working royals in 2020.
Last March, King Charles requested the Sussexes to vacate the property permanently. Now, it appears that Prince Andrew has been instructed to relocate to Frogmore Cottage by the monarch.
Quinn also shared Prince Andrew’s reaction to the King’s decision, stating, “Andrew is livid that despite his appeals to his brother to allow him to remain at Royal Lodge, he has been ordered to leave.”
Explaining the rationale behind King Charles’ decision, Quinn remarked, “For King Charles, compelling Andrew to move to Frogmore serves multiple purposes—it signals to Harry that, as a private individual and no longer a royal working member, he will not regain access to Frogmore.”
Quinn continued, “It also communicates to Andrew that, having tarnished his reputation, he cannot expect to maintain his luxurious lifestyle. Lastly, it ensures that a suitable residence can be prepared for the essential royals, namely William and Kate.”
