Piers Morgan has once again ignited a heated discussion among his followers, this time by slamming Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in the wake of the Lilibet name controversy. Following Lilibet’s birth in June 2021, reports suggested that Harry had sought the Royal Family’s permission to name her after her great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II. The Sussexes maintained that they had the Queen’s support, but a palace source disputed this claim, which was later backed by a former member of the Queen’s staff in a new book by Royal journalist Robert Hardman.

Addressing the ongoing dispute on X (formerly Twitter), Talk TV’s Piers expressed his disbelief, stating, “Wow… so they lied about having her support. Imagine doing that to the Queen as she neared the end of her life? Just disgusting.” Piers’ comment elicited a mixed response from his 8.7 million followers, with some agreeing that the Sussexes’ actions were disappointing and disheartening.

One user commented, “It’s truly disappointing to see them deceive her, especially during such a crucial time. The lack of support is disheartening.” Another added, “Harry and Meghan lied to the press, and then they tried bullying them. The tactic worked.” However, some defended the Sussexes, questioning the need for permission to use a name. One user asked, “Why should they need permission to use a name though? Seems a bit ridiculous.”

While opinions varied among Piers’ followers, the controversy surrounding the Lilibet name saga continues to spark debate and draw attention to the complex relationship between the Sussexes and the Royal Family.
