A legendary BBC series set to spawn two Netflix spin-offs

The streaming giant is reportedly in the works to bring alive the Peaky Blinders’ legacy through these new shows, reigniting the fervor that captivated audiences worldwide.

The beloved period drama, starring Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, Sam Neill, Paul Anderson, and the late Helen McCrory, bid adieu in 2022, leaving devoted fans longing for more tales from the streets of Birmingham post-World War I.

According to Bloomberg, Netflix is eager to continue the saga, planning two spin-offs. One potential series might venture into Boston during the mid-20th century, exploring a different era, decades after the events of Peaky Blinders.

While Cillian Murphy previously hinted at the possibility of returning to the series, expressing openness to a new chapter, he also acknowledged the beauty of the show’s six-season run. He mused, “It’s sometimes hard to move into the film format, and I do like the ambiguity of the ending, but I’m always open to a great script, who wouldn’t be?”

Though nothing is set in stone, a sequel movie is confirmed to be in development, adding more excitement to the franchise.

Creator Steven Knight recently teased fans with updates, sharing that he’s fine-tuning the script. In an exhilarating reveal, Knight hinted at filming kicking off in 2024, indicating that the Peaky Blinders legacy is far from over.

As Knight divulged to Radio Times, “I’m just working on the final bits of it at the moment. I just sit down at the keyboard and start. It’s a bit like having a dream, for me. You sit there and all this stuff comes, and then you read it back and think, ‘That’s pretty good – but where did it come from?’ The plan is to start shooting that in the middle of next year.” The anticipation builds for what promises to be a spectacular continuation of this iconic series!
