Court rules against the couple in a Lawsuit brought by injured security guard

In a significant legal setback, Nicki Minaj and her husband Kenneth Petty have been directed by a court to compensate $500,000 to Thomas Weidenmuller, a security guard who alleged assault by Petty during a concert incident. The altercation, which took place backstage at a 2019 Frankfurt concert, escalated from a verbal exchange to physical violence, resulting in Weidenmuller sustaining a broken jaw.

The conflict ignited when Minaj reproached a female security guard for a lapse that allowed a fan to leap onto the stage. Weidenmuller intervened, attempting to shield his colleague from Minaj’s public berating, which led to an escalated response from Petty. The security guard’s court filing detailed the sudden and severe attack that left him hospitalized and in need of multiple surgeries.

Weidenmuller initially sought $721,000 for medical expenses and emotional distress but was granted a default judgment of over $500,000 after Minaj and Petty failed to respond to the lawsuit. Efforts to serve the legal documents to the couple were reportedly unsuccessful.

As Minaj continues her ‘Pink Friday 2’ world tour, the legal resolution casts a shadow over her ongoing musical endeavors. The incident and the court’s decision underscore the serious repercussions of backstage conflicts and highlight the need for peaceful resolution and professional conduct in high-pressure environments.

The judgment serves as a poignant reminder of the responsibilities public figures bear towards their staff and associates, with Minaj and Petty facing financial and reputational impacts following the court’s ruling.
