Passengers panic as reptile slithers above heads during bangkok to phuket flight

In a chilling incident aboard a recent Thai AirAsia flight from Bangkok to Phuket, passengers were left terrified when they discovered a live snake slithering above them in the cabin. The unnerving encounter was caught on camera, quickly gaining millions of views on TikTok.

On the 13th of January, passengers on the AirAsia flight were in for a shock as they looked up to find the reptile suspended above them on the overhead storage lockers typically used for small bags. Fearful of the snake falling onto their laps, some passengers hastily moved away from its path.

A video uploaded to TikTok by user @wannabnailssalon captured the unsettling moment, showcasing a mix of terror and disbelief among the passengers. The footage went viral, accumulating close to six million views and counting.

As passengers reacted to the unexpected guest, a brave member of the cabin crew attempted to guide the snake into a plastic water bottle. However, this proved challenging, leading them to use the bottle to gently sweep the snake into a rubbish bag.

The fate of the snake after being captured remains unclear, and the circumstances of how it found its way onto the aircraft are yet to be determined. Following the incident, the plane underwent a thorough search upon landing at Phuket Airport, ensuring there were no other serpentine stowaways.

Phol Poompuang, the head of corporate safety at AirAsia Thailand, addressed the rarity of the situation, stating, “Flight attendants were notified before landing in Phuket after a passenger noticed a small snake in the overhead luggage compartment.” He assured that the airline’s crew is well-trained to handle such incidents, emphasizing that the safety and well-being of passengers and crew are top priorities.

Standard procedures were followed, including a deep clean and fumigation of the aircraft before it resumed operations. Despite the shock and panic during the flight, both passengers and crew remained unharmed, ensuring the incident remained an uncommon and memorable occurrence.
