Meghan Markle teases her Netflix cooking show, but critics claim she lacks the skills to compete.

Meghan Markle is counting down the days until the launch of her Netflix cooking show, With Love, Meghan, but not everyone is convinced it will be a success. The Duchess of Sussex shared a sneak peek on Instagram, celebrating the project and thanking those who helped bring it to life.

“Six more days until our show launches on @Netflix! Celebrating the crew and everyone who helped make this happen! The countdown begins,” Meghan captioned the post. The video montage features behind-the-scenes clips from the series, with a brief moment showing Prince Harry giving her a side-hug.

While Meghan’s fans eagerly anticipate her latest venture, critics have wasted no time in casting doubt on her ability to thrive in the competitive world of lifestyle television. Former royal butler Paul Burrell, speaking on behalf of Prime Casino, took a jab at the Duchess, suggesting she may struggle to gain traction.

“I think she’ll be judged by that, but let’s not forget, she’s an actress,” Burrell said. “She can act this role, but she can fall back on those acting skills.”

Burrell went on to cast doubt on Meghan’s credentials in the lifestyle space, arguing that she doesn’t possess the expertise to become a true authority.

“I doubt very much whether she’ll become a new Martha Stewart because she doesn’t have the lifestyle skills—unless there’s somebody behind her, feeding her the lines as an actress would expect,” he added.

Meghan’s show enters an already saturated market, competing with some of America’s biggest names in the culinary and home lifestyle world. Burrell made it clear that he believes she faces an uphill battle.

“It’s The Meghan Show,” he remarked. “And this is a tough area to compete in, in America, because America is filled with the best hosts you can possibly have.”

Despite the criticism, Meghan remains focused on her new chapter. The former Suits actress has dabbled in the lifestyle space before, running her now-defunct blog The Tig prior to marrying into the royal family. However, the transition to hosting a major Netflix show will be a significant test of her brand’s influence and longevity.

Netflix has yet to reveal full details about With Love, Meghan, but the series is expected to blend cooking with personal storytelling, much like her previous projects. The Duchess has spoken openly about her love for food and entertaining, frequently sharing insights into her favourite recipes and traditions.

For now, Meghan is embracing the excitement of her upcoming launch, brushing aside the scepticism. Whether her show will prove to be a hit or a high-profile flop remains to be seen
