Trucker’s remarkable tale of winning the lottery twice after cheating death

Your chances of winning the lottery are astronomically slim, but for trucker Bill Morgan, luck seems to be on his side. Dubbed the ‘Luckiest Man in the World,’ Bill managed not just one but two lottery wins, and his story involves a miraculous return from the brink of death.

In June 1998, Bill faced a life-threatening situation when his heart stopped for a staggering 14 minutes. Despite the odds, medical professionals managed to revive him. Following this harrowing experience, Bill spent over two weeks in a coma after a severe car crash that left him declared ‘clinically dead.’ Against all expectations, he defied the grim prognosis.

Fast forward to his recovery, Bill decided to try his luck with a scratch card, hoping for a stroke of fortune. To his delight, he won a brand new Toyota Corolla valued at $30,000. The twist of fate didn’t end there; when a Melbourne TV station reached out to feature his extraordinary story, Bill was asked to reenact his lottery win using a new scratch card. Astonishingly, lightning struck twice, and he won another substantial prize of $250,000 while reenacting the initial win.

Reflecting on the incredible turn of events, Bill shared with the Daily Mail Australia in 2020: “It was an incredible time – 12 months before I had the win the heart stopped, and my life was over for 14 minutes and 38 seconds.”

Bill, a regular lottery player, expressed his routine of purchasing a Tattslotto ticket and a $5 scratch card every week, a habit he continues to this day.

Describing the moment of his second win, Bill recalled, “It hit me like a tonne of bricks – I thought I was going to have another heart attack there and then.”

In a world where the odds seem insurmountable, Bill Morgan stands as a testament to the extraordinary twists of fate, proving that sometimes luck can favor even the unluckiest.
