Marjorie Taylor Greene praises police after protesters forcibly removed, with two charged for battery

A tense town hall event hosted by Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene in Cobb County, Georgia, erupted into chaos Tuesday evening, as police removed multiple protesters—including one who was tasered inside the venue.

Footage from the event shows law enforcement officers dragging three people from the room within minutes of Greene stepping onto the stage. Acworth Police later confirmed that a total of six individuals were removed from the event, with three arrests made on the spot.

One attendee was tasered during his removal, and officers later confirmed a second person had also been subdued using a stun gun. According to police, two of the individuals now face charges of simple battery on a law enforcement officer and obstruction. A third protester was charged with using vulgar language.

In a statement, the Acworth Police Department defended its actions, claiming officers were “threatened, physically resisted, and harmed” by the protesters. The incident marks yet another volatile moment in Greene’s political career, which has often attracted both fervent supporters and vehement opposition.

Speaking after the event, Greene expressed her satisfaction with the police response: “I’m very thankful for how the officers handled it. I’m glad they got thrown out.” She made no further comment on the specific charges.

The disruptions began almost immediately as Greene started her remarks, with shouts from the audience prompting swift intervention by officers stationed inside the venue. Audience members were left visibly shaken by the confrontation, which briefly halted the town hall’s proceedings.

The congresswoman, known for her staunch conservative positions and inflammatory rhetoric, has held similarly contentious events in the past. Protesters at Tuesday’s gathering appeared to be voicing disapproval of her policies and political views, though specific motivations for the disruption have not yet been detailed by authorities.

The situation escalated quickly, with police moving decisively to remove those involved. Eyewitnesses described confusion and shouting as officers grappled with attendees near the front rows. One man screamed before being tasered, while another was forcibly carried out, and handcuffed.

Following the incident, Greene resumed the town hall and continued taking questions from constituents, many of whom appeared unfazed by the earlier clashes. The event concluded without further incident.

Police have not released the names of those arrested, but said the investigation remains open and more charges could be pending. The use of Tasers at a public political event has already sparked online debate over police force and freedom of speech at constituent meetings.
