United up Mbeumo offer, open Nkunku talks, and eye Lunin as summer reshuffle accelerates

Manchester United have launched a major second bid for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo as they press ahead with their summer overhaul — and it’s not the only headline-grabbing move in the works. Reports confirm a fresh offer exceeding £60 million has been submitted after the club’s initial £55m approach was rebuffed earlier this month.

Mbeumo, one of Brentford’s top performers last season, is now firmly on United’s radar despite interest from Tottenham. The new offer underlines United’s determination to secure the Cameroonian winger as they rebuild under Erik ten Hag’s evolving leadership.

But Mbeumo isn’t the only target. In a surprising twist, United have opened talks to sign Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku, according to fresh reports. The French international endured an injury-hit debut season at Stamford Bridge, but his versatility and technical prowess have made him an attractive proposition for United’s attacking revamp.

Meanwhile, there’s mounting speculation over Marcus Rashford’s future. Though still under contract, his underwhelming form last season has fuelled exit rumours, especially as United line up multiple attacking reinforcements.

Behind the scenes, United are also planning to trim the squad. Brazilian winger Antony could be the next big-name departure. Signed for £85m from Ajax, the 24-year-old struggled to make a consistent impact and spent the second half of last season on loan at Real Betis. United are now hoping to offload him permanently — but with a valuation of £30m, they face a near-£60m loss. Betis, for their part, are keen on a cut-price deal with a future sell-on clause.

On the coaching front, club veteran Jonny Evans will stay at Old Trafford — but not as a player. After retiring, the former centre-back will transition into a developmental role focused on managing youth loans, according to the BBC.

Elsewhere, former United captain Wayne Rooney has landed a new gig in Dubai, joining Football Escapes as a youth coach. He’ll be teaching kids football skills while their families holiday in the sun — joined by former Spurs defender Michael Dawson in this luxury football retreat.

More moves could be on the horizon. United have registered interest in Real Madrid’s back-up keeper Andriy Lunin. The Ukrainian shot-stopper, who failed to oust Thibaut Courtois, is reportedly open to a switch and may be viewed as a replacement for Andre Onana, whose future remains uncertain.

Another potential outgoing is former academy product Scott McTominay. The midfielder, who lifted the Serie A title with Napoli after his £25m switch last summer, is now wanted by Saudi Pro League giants Al-Hilal. Napoli, however, have rejected an initial approach.

Adding to the transfer drama, Diogo Dalot has tied the knot in a lavish Portuguese ceremony with long-time partner Claudia Lopes. The full-back celebrated surrounded by family and friends at a majestic 18th-century palace.

Former interim manager Ralf Rangnick, never one to mince words, has also weighed in. In a scathing assessment of United’s past spending, he questioned the club’s decision to shell out tens of millions on ageing players, warning of the staggering costs involved in short-term fixes.

With the Club World Cup looming and Champions League football secured, United’s transfer activity is expected to escalate further in the coming days.
