Louise Thompson bids an emotional farewell to Ryan Libbey as he heads for the Marathon Des Sables in Morocco.

Louise Thompson, star of Made in Chelsea, shared an emotional goodbye with her fiancé Ryan Libbey as he prepared for an extraordinary challenge in Morocco. Libbey is set to take on the grueling Marathon Des Sables, a series of nine marathons spread over the unforgiving Sahara Desert, and Thompson took to Instagram to express her pride and support.

In her heartfelt message, the 33-year-old television personality wrote, “Good luck daddy. We hope you have an amazing time on this big adventure and we can’t wait to see you on the other side. Proud of ya.” Thompson’s words were filled with love and encouragement, as she also reflected on the significance of this challenge for Libbey.

She explained how Libbey’s decision to take part in the intense marathon race was part of his effort to prioritise his mental health, particularly after the traumatic experience of nearly losing Thompson during the birth of their son, Leo, in 2021. “We all have different ways of coping with life’s challenges… and I believe that this is your way of showing us that you are prioritising your mental health. That means you are prioritising us too,” she wrote.

Thompson continued to shower praise on Libbey for his calm and selfless approach to the challenge. “Well done you,” she said. “And you do it with such grace. No build-up. No preamble. No glory hunting. Just getting it done. Zero complaints. Rather you than me. Godspeed. x.” Thompson’s words painted a picture of a loving partner who fully supported Libbey’s journey, despite the emotional strain it caused her.

As Libbey embarks on this physically and mentally demanding journey, Thompson also made it clear that she was preparing to solo parent their son, Leo, during his absence. “Ps. We got this Leo!” she concluded, showing her resilience and determination to hold down the fort while Libbey faces the Sahara’s harsh conditions.

Earlier this week, Libbey spoke candidly about the personal motivation behind his decision to take on the Marathon Des Sables. He revealed that his participation in the event was a way to help him “move past some of the traumas of the last three years”—a period marked by intense emotional challenges for both him and Thompson.
