The Reds demonstrate their ability to adapt and control the game after halftime, maintaining their perfect Champions League record

Liverpool continue to impress with their ability to adapt and seize control after halftime, as they demonstrated once again in their commanding 4-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen. The Reds have become known for their clinical second-half performances, and Leverkusen felt the full force of this trend.

Arne Slot, Bayer Leverkusen’s manager, reflected on the shift in the game, stating, “In the second half, we could adjust to the game plan of the first half, we took a bit more risks, we were better with the ball as well.” The second-half display from Liverpool was an embodiment of their growing confidence and control.

In the first 45 minutes, Liverpool showed promise but lacked the finishing touch. With nine shots (three on target) and an xG of just 0.63, they were unable to create clear-cut chances, and the passing game was somewhat restricted, with only 87 passes in the opposition half. Despite this, they were in control defensively, limiting Leverkusen to just five shots (one on target) and an xG of 0.16 in the opening half.

However, after the break, Liverpool came alive. The team was more daring and dynamic, taking greater risks in attack. Their increased intensity was matched by better ball control and sharper decision-making, which led to an avalanche of goals and a statement victory at Anfield.
