Police urgently appeal for witnesses after Liverpool rape attack near Leeds Street in the early hours of Thursday

Police in Liverpool have launched a major investigation following a Liverpool rape attack near a main road in the early hours of Thursday, 20 February. Officers are working to gather evidence and are urging anyone with information about the Liverpool rape attack to come forward.

Merseyside Police received a report at 12:50 am that a woman had been attacked at the junction of Vauxhall Road and Leeds Street shortly beforehand. Officers swiftly responded, cordoning off the area, including bushes near Leeds Street, as they carried out forensic investigations.

Detective Inspector Carla Cross reassured the public, stating:

“We take all reports of rape and sexual assault extremely seriously. The impact on victims can be long-lasting, and our specialist Unity team will support the victim throughout the investigation.”

“Information from the public is vital. We believe a man spoke to the victim after the attack—if that was you, please come forward.”
