Kyle Walker has openly acknowledged his “idiot choices” and taken “full responsibility” for the pain he has caused his wife, Annie Kilner, amidst their relationship turmoil. The Manchester City defender’s admission comes after Annie announced their separation earlier this month, followed by reports of him fathering a second child with Lauryn Goodman, with whom he had previously had a child in 2019.
In a candid interview, the 33-year-old footballer expressed deep regret for his actions, confirming that he is now living separately while Annie, who is expecting their fourth child, remains in their family home. Kyle expressed, “What I’ve done is horrible and I take full responsibility. I made idiot choices and idiot decisions. I can’t begin to think or imagine what Annie is going through. I’ve tried to ask her, but there’s pain and hurt.” He continued, “The only person to blame is me. I have roles and responsibilities that I’m aware of, and I’ve made stupid choices. But I need to own up to my mistakes — I owe it to everyone. My actions have caused a lot of pain to a lot of people. I’m sorry because, as a family, this isn’t meant to happen.”
Kyle clarified that he never had a romantic relationship with Lauryn, despite her previous claims to the contrary, but acknowledged knowing the model since his early twenties. He referred to Annie as his “soulmate” and revealed that one of the most challenging aspects of this ordeal is not being able to put his son to sleep at night, as he typically does when he’s at home.
This isn’t the first time Kyle faced infidelity issues, having previously moved out of the family home due to another cheating scandal. However, Annie chose to forgive him at that time. After learning about Lauryn’s first pregnancy, Annie decided to move forward, and the couple got married in November 2021, with Kyle vowing to maintain no contact with Lauryn beyond financial obligations for their son.
In August 2022, Lauryn announced her intention to move closer to Kyle’s family home, which led to a meeting between Kyle and his son, Kairo, for the first time at a solicitors’ office. Kyle continued to have contact with Lauryn without Annie’s knowledge, and in October 2022, after meeting Lauryn again during a trip for surgery, he discovered she was pregnant once more.
Earlier this year, Annie confirmed her separation from Kyle through an Instagram post, stating, “Sadly, after many years of marriage and three wonderful children together, I have decided to take some time away from Kyle. I do not wish to comment on the position any further.”
Lauryn, who gained fame on the reality show “The Only Way is Essex,” recently revealed details about Kyle’s double life and decided to inform Annie of the truth so that they could all handle the situation as adults. She emphasised the need for transparency in their relationships and parenting responsibilities.
