Kristen Doute and Luke Broderick welcome their first child, a baby girl named Kaia Lily
Reality star Kristen Doute and her fiancé Luke Broderick are officially parents, as they welcomed their first child this week. The Valley star, 42, confirmed the joyous news exclusively to Us Weekly, revealing that their baby girl, Kaia Lily, arrived on Wednesday, June 11.
“She’s here, and we still can’t believe it,” Doute said, beaming with excitement. “Luke is even hotter as a dad, and I just feel so lucky. Even though I haven’t slept or showered in two days, seeing our daughter and finally being able to hold her makes it all worth it. We’re completely overwhelmed with love and so grateful for her—our lives are already changed completely.”
The couple chose the name Kaia Lily with special meaning in mind. Doute shared that Kaia, meaning “the sea” in Hawaiian, reflects their shared love for Hawaii, the place where Broderick proposed. The middle name Lily honours Kristen’s favourite flower, symbolising new beginnings and a gentle, compassionate nature.
Doute and Broderick’s love story began in June 2022, when they met at a friend’s wedding. The two went public with their romance in December of that year, and by September 2024, Broderick had proposed during a surprise boat ride in Maui, Hawaii. “I knew from the moment we met that Luke was my person,” Doute gushed at the time. “I am so excited to continue this journey together, now as fiancés.”
Their path to parenthood, however, was not without challenges. After suffering a pregnancy loss in 2023, the couple decided to start trying again in early 2024. With Doute’s age a factor, they sought guidance from a fertility specialist and eventually pursued intrauterine insemination (IUI).
“In late summer, we decided to meet with a fertility specialist to learn about our options and what could be the next step if we decided to go that route,” Doute explained. “The next month was a whirlwind — getting educated on fertility, hormone shots, and preparing my body for IUI.”
Two weeks after the procedure, Doute sensed she was pregnant even before taking the test. “I tested one day early and got the big PREGNANT result staring back at me,” she recalled. “I was relieved, overwhelmed, happy, excited and nervous.”
Broderick’s reaction was equally joyous. “The second I told Luke, he wasn’t surprised, but was SO happy that IUI worked the first time. He was joyful and beyond excited, to say the least!” The couple had eagerly anticipated the arrival of their baby in June, and now that day has finally arrived.
The new parents’ journey has resonated with many fans, especially those who have followed Doute since her Vanderpump Rules days and her more recent appearance on The Valley. Their story has been one of resilience, love, and hope—a testament to the highs and lows of building a family.
As Kristen and Luke settle into life with their newborn daughter, they are embracing the whirlwind of parenthood with open hearts. “We’re completely overwhelmed with love and so grateful for her,” Doute shared, encapsulating the joy of this new chapter.
