Dunst describes a questionable encounter with a director at 16, leading her mother to intervene

Kirsten Dunst, the renowned actress, recently shared a troubling account from her early acting days. She recounted an audition where a director asked her an inappropriate question. This incident occurred when Dunst, now 41, was only 16. She sought a significant role at the time. The audition took an uncomfortable turn in the director’s office. There, the director posed a question completely unrelated to acting. Dunst chose not to reveal the director’s identity. She speculated that he might not be active in the industry anymore. Dunst expressed her discomfort about the incident, emphasizing the question’s impropriety.

Dunst’s mother played a crucial role in protecting her from further exposure to such situations. Upon learning about the encounter, she immediately withdrew Dunst from the audition process. She informed the involved parties that Dunst would not participate in the film. Dunst credits her mother with shielding her from the predatory aspects of Hollywood. She reflected on her mother’s constant presence as a protective measure throughout her career.
