Kevin Hart is standing firm on his decision not to host the Oscars again, reiterating that the prestigious event is no longer a conducive environment for comedians. The actor and comedian had initially been slated to host the 2019 Oscars but withdrew amidst controversy surrounding past anti-gay tweets and comments from a decade ago.

In a recent interview with Sky News, Hart made it clear that he is resolute in his stance. He expressed, “Whatever little hope you had, I want to destroy it right now. Those gigs aren’t good gigs for comics. It’s no shot to the Oscars, no shot to the Globes or anything else. Those just aren’t comedy-friendly environments anymore.”

Highlighting the evolving dynamics of hosting such events, Hart acknowledged the success of personalities who have embraced the challenge. He specifically praised the likes of Chris Rock, Billy Crystal, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Ricky Gervais, who navigated the complexities of hosting major awards shows.

Shedding light on the changed landscape, Hart stated, “It’s not the gig that it was of old. It’s too much pressure on the idea of a comic and what’s jokes and not jokes. So, it’s tough.” Despite having previously hosted award shows like the BET Awards, MTV Video Music Awards, and MTV Movie Awards, Hart emphasised the challenges faced by those not deeply ingrained in the industry.

Acknowledging the altered atmosphere, Hart explained, “It’s no shot to the Oscars, no shot to the Globes or anything else. Those just aren’t comedy-friendly environments anymore.”

The actor, known for his roles in various comedy films, also discussed his latest project, the Netflix film “Lift,” which started streaming on January 12.
