Rapper makes millions despite criticism for ‘worst Super Bowl ad ever’

Kanye West has divulged the financial outcome of his Super Bowl advertisement, which he himself described as ‘terrible.’ Despite the negative feedback, the rapper managed to turn a profit, earning $19.3 million from the ad.

The commercial, featuring West in selfie mode in a car, promoted his clothing line, Yeezy, and his upcoming album, Vultures. West invested $7 million in the advert, a move that paid off when his album later reached number one in 100 countries.

In a candid statement to TMZ, West admitted that he had put ‘everything he had’ into the album and the Super Bowl ad, as he was facing financial difficulties. The rapper had been ‘two months away from going bankrupt’ in 2022 after losing partnerships due to controversial remarks and promoting ‘White Lives Matter.’

Despite the initial setbacks, West’s decision to invest in the commercial proved fruitful. His album’s success allowed him to bounce back from financial troubles, leading to a resurgence in his career.

West’s unconventional approach to the Super Bowl ad, filmed in selfie mode, was a departure from the high-tech, elaborate adverts typically seen during the event. However, the risk paid off, demonstrating West’s ability to generate buzz and drive sales despite criticism.
