Justin Baldoni files shocking complaint, accusing Blake Lively of holding the film ‘hostage’ over demands involving a Taylor Swift song
The drama surrounding It Ends With Us has taken a shocking turn, with Justin Baldoni making explosive claims against his co-star Blake Lively. In his latest legal filing, Baldoni, who also directs the film, accused Lively of “holding the film hostage” during the editing process in May 2024, all in an attempt to secure her demands.
The controversy centres around a key song in the film, Taylor Swift’s My Tears Ricochet, which featured prominently in the trailer and some scenes. Baldoni alleges that Lively, who is a close friend of Swift, made a veiled threat that she would prevent the Grammy-winning artist’s song from being included unless her personal demands were met.
In his amended complaint, Baldoni expands on the claim, stating that Lively stalled the editing and marketing efforts, putting unnecessary pressure on the team to extend timelines and allow more time for her to exert control over the project. According to the actor and director, this behaviour caused delays in the movie’s release and promotional activities.
The accusations come after praise from Sony Pictures Entertainment’s chair-CEO, Tony Vinciquerra, who had previously lauded Lively’s “passion and commitment” during the production process, even expressing a desire to collaborate on multiple future projects. “We love working with Blake, and we want to do 12 more movies with her,” Vinciquerra remarked in August.
Previously, Baldoni had spoken warmly about Lively’s connection to Swift and her role in bringing the song into the film. “That’s all Blake,” he said, commenting on the song’s inclusion. “Blake knows everybody. Her and Taylor are very good friends. I’m so happy that they agreed to have the song in the trailer. It’s so perfect for the movie.”
Now, with the accusations out in the open, the drama surrounding the film has reached new heights, leaving fans wondering how the ongoing tensions between the two stars will affect the film’s future.
