Jamie Lee Curtis urges the public to support, not judge, Anderson and Neeson’s rumoured romance
Jamie Lee Curtis has delivered a passionate defence of Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson amid swirling rumours the pair are romantically involved.
Speaking to VT in an interview published on 4 August, the Oscar-winning actress made it clear she has no time for public criticism of the alleged relationship.
“With all due respect to pop culture, if love has found [its] way into that relationship—God bless them both—leave them the f*** alone,” Curtis said. “Let them like each other.”
Curtis, who appeared alongside Anderson in last year’s Golden Globe–nominated film The Last Showgirl, became emotional as she reflected on the personal challenges both stars have endured.
“Both of them have had hardship, and they’re both beautiful human beings,” she said tearfully. “If they actually have found an intimate love with each other, we should all go to bed tonight feeling better.”
The Halloween star praised Anderson as “a beautiful person” both on and off the screen, noting her talent and humanity. She also acknowledged Neeson’s painful past — the Taken actor lost his wife, actress Natasha Richardson, in 2009 following a tragic skiing accident.
“He also suffered an unimaginable loss so young,” Curtis said. “And has had a really hard go of it.”
Her final message was blunt: “So if, in fact, these people have hard launched, then wish them the best and leave them alone.”
The words come as Anderson and Neeson’s public appearances together continue to spark speculation. On 1 August, Anderson shared photos on Instagram of herself smiling alongside Neeson on the red carpet for their new Naked Gun movie. Among the comments was a row of red heart emojis from Joely Richardson, Natasha Richardson’s sister — a gesture seen by some as an endorsement of the pairing.
Curtis isn’t the only one voicing admiration. During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live! on 3 August, Anderson described Neeson as “kind and generous.” For his part, Neeson said he loved Anderson’s “spirit” and revealed she’s “a giggler like me, and I love that.”
The two have been working together on the latest instalment of the comedy franchise, their onscreen chemistry now feeding into offscreen whispers of romance. Neither Anderson nor Neeson has officially confirmed a relationship, but Curtis’s remarks have amplified calls for them to be left to navigate their personal lives privately.
Curtis’s defence taps into a wider conversation about the scrutiny celebrity couples face. Both Anderson and Neeson have lived much of their personal lives under public observation. Anderson’s relationships and marriages have often been tabloid fodder, while Neeson has largely kept his private life guarded since his wife’s death.
For Curtis, the speculation around the pair misses the point. Her message is simple: two people with histories marked by loss and resilience may have found comfort in each other — and that should be met with support, not judgment.
Whether the rumours are true or not, Curtis’s emotional backing has resonated with fans. Many took to social media to applaud her for calling out the intrusion, praising her for showing empathy and compassion in an industry that often thrives on gossip.
As the Naked Gun press tour continues, so will the spotlight on Anderson and Neeson. But with friends like Jamie Lee Curtis — and apparent quiet support from Neeson’s late wife’s family — the two may have the backing they need to ignore the noise and focus on what matters to them.
