Towie’s James Argent shoved his partner downstairs during a blazing row—neighbours heard chilling screams
Former TOWIE star James Argent has been handed a suspended prison sentence after a violent outburst in Spain left his girlfriend hospitalised.
The 36-year-old reality personality was arrested last week in La Cala de Mijas on the Costa del Sol after pushing his partner, former Miss Sweden Nicoline Artursson, 32, down a flight of steps during a furious row.
Local neighbours, alarmed by chilling screams, quickly alerted police. Officers arrived to find a shaken Nicoline and arrested Argent on the spot. He spent several hours in police custody before being hauled before the Court of Violence Against Women in Fuengirola later that day.
Argent admitted in court to “mistreating” Nicoline during the confrontation. Judges issued him with a six-month suspended prison sentence and a two-year restraining order, banning him from contacting or seeing his girlfriend of 11 months.
According to insiders, the altercation exploded when Argent turned aggressive inside Nicoline’s apartment. As the argument escalated, he reportedly tried to force her out the front door. Amid the struggle, he shoved her, causing her to tumble down the steps outside.
Nicoline reportedly suffered injuries and required hospital treatment. She has remained in Spain since the ordeal, while Argent has returned to Essex.
A local source revealed: “James and Nicoline had a row that turned nasty, and he pushed her over. He was arrested and taken to a station where he was put in the cells for a few hours. James complied with the police, and the matter was resolved in court on the same day.”
The judge ordered Argent to attend a resocialisation course focusing on gender violence. The swift court process brought their relationship to a screeching halt. A source confirmed: “Their relationship is over and they can no longer speak or contact one another.”

Sources close to Argent insist he’s full of remorse. A friend stated, “James has been at home in Essex since this happened. He said he had a row with Nicoline and that he tried to end the argument. James said he pushed Nicoline and that she fell. He is remorseful about what happened, but is insisting he never meant any harm.”
Despite the apology, the Spanish court took the matter seriously. His arrest came on a Bank Holiday Monday, and he was swiftly taken into custody and questioned. Nicoline was also present at the court hearing in Fuengirola, though she has not commented publicly since.
While the case has been legally resolved, the implications for Argent’s public image are far from over. Once a beloved TV figure known for his charm and on-screen antics, he now faces a different kind of spotlight—one defined by violence, scandal, and disgrace.
His conviction casts a long shadow over his recent career comeback and will likely raise serious questions about domestic violence and accountability among public figures.
Argent has yet to make a public statement beyond comments shared by close friends, but the restraining order, suspended sentence, and court-mandated course speak volumes. Meanwhile, Nicoline is recovering from both her injuries and the trauma of the attack in Spain.
