Former stuntman shares journey to sobriety, expresses gratitude to Mark Wahlberg for unlikely motivation
In a significant milestone on his path to recovery, Jackass star Bam Margera has proudly declared that he is now over 100 days sober. The 42-year-old former stuntman has been candid about his ongoing battle with substance abuse and addiction, openly sharing his journey with fans and followers.
Margera first signaled his commitment to sobriety in April of this year when he posted on Instagram, declaring his decision to “stop drinking.” Motivated by the desire to set a positive example for his son, Phoenix, Margera expressed the profound influence his son had on this pivotal decision.
Now, having achieved the commendable feat of 100 days of sobriety, Margera attributes his success to the unwavering support of his girlfriend, Dannii. The couple engages in daily workouts, using the gym as a cornerstone for Margera’s commitment to a healthier lifestyle. Surprisingly, Margera found an unexpected source of inspiration in Hollywood actor Mark Wahlberg.
Margera shared that the gym he frequents is adorned with images from Wahlberg’s movies, a decorative choice by the gym’s owner, Jarred Taylor, who previously collaborated with Wahlberg on the film Lone Survivor in 2013. The movie stills serve as a motivational backdrop for Margera’s workouts, contributing to his dedication to staying sober.
Expressing his gratitude to Wahlberg, Margera sent a video message to the actor, announcing, “What up Mark, it’s Bam Margera here with Dannii—120 days sober, rock and roll!” In response, Wahlberg commended Margera’s persistence in achieving 120 days of sobriety, expressing his joy for the star and his family.
Wahlberg extended an invitation to Margera to connect in person, and the Jackass star plans to take him up on the offer. With the newfound clarity to visit his son Phoenix, Margera intends to drive to Las Vegas to meet Wahlberg before continuing to California to reunite with his son.
In addition to celebrating his sobriety, Margera remains active in his career, currently working on a new movie in Texas and contributing to the development of artwork for a clothing company.
