Homebase confirms closure of 33 more stores following administration, putting hundreds of jobs at risk across the UK.

Homebase is set to shutter 33 more stores across the UK following its administration in November 2024, adding to the 13 that ceased trading in January. The move casts a shadow over the future of hundreds of jobs as the DIY and homeware retailer struggles to stay afloat.

When the popular retailer entered administration, hundreds of Homebase stores faced the threat of closure. While 74 stores were initially put up for sale, a recent update has confirmed the specific branches slated for closure.

Administrators Teneo noted that the listed sites, including Homebase stores in Sudbury, Cannock, and Chester, will cease trading within weeks.

B&Q snapped up five Homebase stores in November, consolidating its position as the UK’s largest home improvement retailer. Sainsbury’s acquired 10 stores last year and is expected to purchase three more.

Homebase stated that all affected employees have received at least two weeks’ notice of their redundancy.
