Harry and Meghan joined Serena Williams and a-listers at a glitzy gala before Kris Jenner’s bash
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped back into the Hollywood spotlight on Saturday night as they mingled with Serena Williams, Demi Lovato and a line-up of A-listers at the Baby2Baby Gala, before heading straight to Kris Jenner’s 70th birthday celebration.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex posed for photographs alongside their close friend Serena Williams at the glamorous Los Angeles event, held at the Pacific Design Center. The gala, hosted annually by the non-profit organisation Baby2Baby, brings together celebrities, business leaders and philanthropists to raise money for children living in poverty.
This year’s event raised an extraordinary $18 million, with Williams receiving the Giving Tree Award, which honours a celebrity mother who embodies the charity’s mission.
Meghan dazzled in a monochrome gown while Harry looked polished in a classic tuxedo, the couple smiling for cameras before slipping away to attend Kris Jenner’s exclusive 007-themed party at Jeff Bezos’s $165 million Beverly Hills mansion.
The lavish celebration drew some of the biggest names in entertainment, including Adele, Justin Bieber, Oprah Winfrey, Bill Gates and all six of Kris Jenner’s famous children – Kim, Khloé, Kourtney, Kendall, Kylie and Rob Kardashian. Guests dressed in black-tie attire for the Bond-themed evening and were reportedly asked to sign non-disclosure agreements and avoid using their phones.
A source close to the Kardashian-Jenner family told The Sun: “Kris is so used to sharing every moment of her family’s lives, but her 70th was more private. No one was allowed to post on social media, and getting phones out was frowned upon because of the huge celebrities in the room. Her daughters paid tribute with speeches and Kris was the life and soul of the party, drinking her trademark vodka martinis.”
The Sussexes’ back-to-back appearances at two high-profile Hollywood events mark one of their most public outings in recent months and suggest a renewed engagement with their celebrity circles. Their evening out follows weeks of speculation about Meghan’s potential return to acting, with reports hinting that new entertainment projects could be on the horizon.
Harry, who recently wrote an emotional essay encouraging people to support veterans and those “carrying the weight of war”, wore a red poppy on his lapel in honour of Remembrance weekend. The gesture came as the rest of the Royal Family attended remembrance services in London.
Across the Atlantic, the Princess of Wales joined King Charles, Queen Camilla and 12-year-old Prince George at the Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall. Dressed in a black Alessandra Rich gown and wearing earrings once owned by Queen Elizabeth II, Kate stood with her family as they paid tribute to those who served in the armed forces.
The annual event marked the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War and remembered the sacrifices of service members across generations. It also highlighted the experiences of modern military families, including bereaved children, and celebrated 25 years since the UK lifted its ban on LGBTQ+ people serving openly in the military.
Prince William, who had spent the week in Brazil marking the fifth anniversary of his Earthshot Prize environmental initiative, missed the Saturday night ceremony but joined the King and his family the following morning for the national Remembrance Sunday service.
Meanwhile, Harry and Meghan’s glamorous evening in Los Angeles highlighted just how far removed their lives have become from royal protocol. Surrounded by Hollywood royalty, the couple appeared relaxed and confident as they reconnected with familiar faces and enjoyed one of the biggest celebrity nights of the year.
For Meghan, who has maintained a close friendship with Serena Williams for over a decade, the event was a chance to blend philanthropy with glamour. For Harry, the night symbolised a continued balancing act between royal duty and life in California.
As the lights dimmed at Jeff Bezos’s sprawling mansion, one thing was clear – the Sussexes remain as fascinating to Hollywood as they ever were to the monarchy.
