King Charles and Princess Kate face health issues; Duke and Duchess of Sussex reach out

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have offered their support to King Charles and Princess Kate as both royals grapple with health concerns. The gesture is seen as an olive branch, arriving nearly two months after the royals were implicated in a race-related controversy surrounding the skin color of Harry and Meghan’s eldest child, Archie.

According to a source, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex contacted both King Charles, who is preparing for a prostate operation, and Princess Kate, currently in her fifth day of recovery after undergoing major abdominal surgery. The public display of concern and well-wishing is perceived as an attempt to mend strained relations within the Royal Family.

Reports of tension within the family have intensified in recent months, with claims of a troubled relationship between the Sussexes and other royals. A noteworthy revelation this week highlighted that King Charles has taken steps to prevent Harry from acting as a substitute in case of illness or absence.

The recent race row allegedly involving King Charles and Princess Kate surfaced in Omid Scobie’s book “Endgame.” The Dutch edition of the book erroneously identified them as the royals who commented on Archie’s skin color. Another biography of King Charles, released this week, suggests that the decision by Harry and Meghan to name their daughter Lilibet angered the late Queen Elizabeth.

Despite Buckingham Palace’s attempt to privately inform senior members of the Royal Family about King Charles’s prostate diagnosis, the news became public, leading to speculation that Harry may have learned about it through news sources.

Princess Kate, who is expected to remain in The London Clinic for up to 10 more days, is reported to be “doing well.” While the nature of her illness has not been disclosed, Kensington Palace confirmed it is not cancer. Prince William has taken time off to be with his wife and care for their three children. The couple’s regular events, including Children’s Mental Health Week, The BAFTAs, and the Commonwealth Day service, are likely to be missed, along with potential delays in royal trips.

Royal expert Dickie Arbiter commented on the unusual situation of having two senior royals in the hospital simultaneously. He acknowledged the Sussexes’ gesture of support and expressed hope for rebuilding relationships, though he cautioned against expecting a swift resolution.

The health challenges faced by King Charles and Princess Kate have brought an unexpected focus on the Royal Family, prompting public speculation about the future dynamics within the monarchy.
