Rockstar confirms GTA 6’s second trailer was captured entirely in-game on PS5, mixing gameplay and cutscenes.

Following the jaw-dropping release of GTA 6‘s second trailer, Rockstar Games has confirmed that the impressive visuals were captured entirely in-game on a standard PlayStation 5. The trailer, which dropped earlier this week, gave fans a deeper look at the world of Vice City and its cast of characters, offering a tantalising glimpse of what’s to come in Rockstar’s highly anticipated sequel.

The trailer showed off a stunning level of detail, with many fans immediately praising the game’s realistic graphics. Amidst the excitement, some speculated whether the footage was actually captured on a PS5 Pro instead, given how good it looked. Rockstar, however, swiftly put these doubts to rest in a statement released on social media, confirming that the entire trailer, including both gameplay and cutscenes, was captured on the now nearly five-year-old PS5.

“Grand Theft Auto 6 Trailer 2 was captured entirely in-game from a PlayStation 5,” the statement read. “Comprising equal parts gameplay and cutscenes.” This revelation has only added to the growing excitement surrounding the game, with fans marveling at the level of detail and realism achieved on current-generation hardware.

The trailer was also notable for offering a deeper dive into the game’s narrative and world. Set in a Miami-inspired Vice City, GTA 6 promises to deliver a sprawling environment packed with new characters and stunning landscapes. Rockstar has since released character breakdowns and additional screenshots, fuelling further speculation and anticipation ahead of the game’s eventual release.

Despite the excitement, the game’s launch has faced a significant delay. Originally slated for release this autumn, GTA 6 will now launch on May 26, 2026, as announced by Take-Two Interactive last week. The delay, which follows months of speculation, was necessary, according to Rockstar, to ensure the game meets the high standards of quality that fans expect. “We need this extra time to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve,” Rockstar explained.

While the delay has left a sizable gap in the gaming schedule for 2025, it could actually benefit other developers who were hesitant to release their own titles close to GTA 6’s original launch. Game executives had previously expressed concerns about the impact of GTA 6’s dominance on the market, fearing it would overshadow other major releases. With the new release window, these publishers now have the opportunity to make their move without the looming shadow of Rockstar’s giant.

The delayed release also means that fans have a longer wait ahead before they can get their hands on GTA 6 for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Rockstar, however, has promised that more information will be revealed in the coming months. Until then, fans will continue to pore over every detail from the trailer, including the breathtaking world design and the evolving cast of characters.

With a full year until launch, GTA 6 remains one of the most eagerly awaited titles in gaming, and this latest trailer has only heightened anticipation. While a release date might still feel like a long way off, Rockstar’s commitment to delivering the game at the highest level of quality has only fueled fans’ hopes for a groundbreaking experience when the game finally arrives.
