Gossip scoop: Kate Middleton’s recovery update after abdominal surgery as she returns to Windsor with well wishes

Duchess Kate, aged 42, is on the path to recovery after undergoing abdominal surgery and has left the hospital to return home to Windsor. The planned operation took place on January 16, and she had been receiving care at the private London Clinic. Kensington Palace announced the surgery on January 17, emphasising that it was unrelated to cancer.

Originally, it was expected that the Duchess would spend between 10 to 14 days in the hospital before being discharged to Adelaide Cottage in Windsor. However, on Monday, she was allowed to leave the clinic after 13 days, marking a positive step in her recuperation.

A spokesperson from the palace stated, “The Princess of Wales has returned home to Windsor to continue her recovery from surgery. She is making good progress. The Prince and Princess wish to say a huge thank you to the entire team at The London Clinic, especially the dedicated nursing staff, for the care they have provided. The Wales family continues to be grateful for the well wishes they have received from around the world.”

The news of the Duchess’s discharge from the hospital has been welcomed not only by the Royal Family but also by the wider public.

Sources have suggested that Kate’s dedication to her royal duties will see her back to work as soon as possible, even from her bed now that she has returned home. Throughout her hospital stay, her husband, Prince William, age 41, visited her daily at the clinic in Marylebone, central London.

Their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, continued attending school and did not visit their mother in the hospital to maintain a sense of normalcy. Kate’s parents were reportedly supporting the family by clearing their schedules to help with childcare during this period.

During her hospitalisation, the Duchess relied on the support of close friends, ranging from old schoolmates to palace insiders, as she worked towards a full recovery.

Interestingly, the announcement of Kate’s hospital stay coincided with Buckingham Palace’s announcement that King Charles would also undergo surgery, described as a “corrective procedure” for an “enlarged prostate.” Charles was seen driving his Audi over the weekend after cancelling engagements to undergo the surgery, which is expected to require a month of recovery time, resulting in the monarch missing royal engagements during that period.

In another health-related news involving members of the royal family, it was revealed last week that Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, had been battling aggressive skin cancer. This marked her second cancer diagnosis in just six months, with the 64-year-old previously receiving treatment for breast cancer. Sarah has urged everyone to be vigilant about monitoring moles for changes in size, shape, colour, texture, or the emergence of new moles to catch potential skin cancer early.
