Chef insists time will mend ties after Brooklyn rejects reconciliation with his parents

Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay has weighed in on the escalating rift within the Beckham family, saying time will help repair the fractured relationship between Sir David and Lady Victoria Beckham and their eldest son, Brooklyn.

Ramsay, who has been a long-time friend of the family, described David and Victoria as “good parents” and said he believes the situation will eventually settle. Speaking to The Sun, he acknowledged the public nature of the dispute but stressed that the bond between father and son remains deep.

The fallout became public in January when Brooklyn posted a series of statements on Instagram declaring that he did not want to “reconcile” with his family. His posts followed months of speculation about tensions between him, his wife Nicola Peltz, and the wider Beckham family.

In the posts, Brooklyn made several allegations concerning his parents, many of which centred on events surrounding his wedding to Nicola, an American actress and the daughter of billionaire businessman Nelson Peltz. The Beckhams have not formally responded to his claims.

One of the most striking accusations related to the wedding reception. Brooklyn alleged that his mother “hijacked” the first dance, which he said had been planned weeks in advance, to a romantic song. He claimed she danced “very inappropriately” with him in front of guests and described feeling “uncomfortable” and “humiliated”.

However, a report by British Vogue, which covered the wedding, described the moment differently. According to the publication, Brooklyn invited his mother on stage for a dance, and they were later joined by Sir David and the couple’s youngest sibling, Harper.

Ramsay, who attended the wedding, rejected any suggestion of impropriety. He said nothing “salacious” or “inappropriate” took place during the celebration. He emphasised the strength of the relationship between David and Brooklyn, describing it as “very, very deep” and stating that he knows how much David loves his son.

While acknowledging that Brooklyn is attempting to establish independence, Ramsay suggested that perspective will come with time. “It’s easy to get up on that roller coaster and get carried away,” he said, adding that he believes Brooklyn will eventually reflect on the situation.

Ramsay confirmed that he has exchanged messages with Brooklyn “a little bit” and said he still has affection for him. He described Brooklyn as “desperate to stand on his own two feet”, a remark that reflects the wider context of Brooklyn’s public insistence that he is standing up for himself.

At the same time, Ramsay offered a gentle reminder about the importance of family. He urged Brooklyn to remember that “one day you’re not going to have your Mum and Dad”, underlining the value of repairing relationships while there is still time.

Sir David has not directly addressed the specific claims made by his son. In January, however, he spoke more generally about parenting and social media, saying that children are “allowed to make mistakes”.

The Beckham family has long been one of Britain’s most prominent celebrity households, with both Sir David and Lady Victoria maintaining global public profiles. The public nature of the disagreement has intensified scrutiny, particularly as Brooklyn’s statements have continued to circulate widely online.

Ramsay’s intervention marks one of the first high-profile responses from someone close to the family. His message, however, focused less on the details of the dispute and more on the belief that reconciliation remains possible.

For now, Brooklyn has stated clearly that he does not wish to reconcile. Yet Ramsay’s view is that, in time, emotions may settle and reflection may follow. As the situation unfolds, the chef’s stance is simple: the relationship is strong, the love remains, and time, he believes, will do its work.
