Queen urges monarch to rest as Princess Kate also faces recovery period

King Charles is set to miss a month of royal engagements as he recuperates from a prostate operation, with Queen Camilla urging the 75-year-old monarch to take it easy. The King arrived at The London Clinic on Friday for the planned “corrective surgery,” necessitating a standard recovery period of three to four weeks.

Queen Camilla has been a constant presence at the facility, visiting Charles every day and assuring well-wishers that “he’s fine, thank you.” Princess Kate, also at The London Clinic for abdominal surgery, is expected to spend up to 14 days at the facility, leading to her temporary withdrawal from public duties until March.

The King’s shock diagnosis followed extensive State Visits in 2023, with insiders suggesting the Queen emphasized the need for him to “slow down a bit.” Despite Charles’ eagerness to resume his duties, the recovery guidelines advise against strenuous activities for the initial weeks.

The statement from Buckingham Palace emphasized the benign nature of the King’s condition and encouraged men to seek medical advice if experiencing symptoms. Princess Kate, 42, is expected to return to royal duties post-recovery, and updates on her progress will be shared when there is significant new information.

The royal family rallies together during this health challenge, with Prince William supporting Kate during her surgery and taking on additional responsibilities for their children.
