Tragic collision between vehicles leads to motorway closure and hospitalizations near Bristol

A fatal collision between a car and a lorry on the M4 motorway near Bristol has resulted in the loss of one life, Avon and Somerset Police confirmed.

The incident occurred between junction 18 for Bath and junction 19 for Bristol, around 13:00 GMT, causing significant disruption and congestion on the motorway.

Despite the swift response of emergency services, one individual tragically lost their life at the scene of the collision, while four others sustained injuries. The injured individuals were promptly transported to the hospital, with their injuries assessed as non-life-threatening or life-changing.

To facilitate emergency response and vehicle recovery operations, authorities closed the motorway in both directions, urging motorists to seek alternative routes.

Avon and Somerset Police have issued an appeal for witnesses to the crash and urged individuals possessing relevant dashcam footage to come forward, assisting in their ongoing investigation into the incident
