Chris Eubank Jr ignites fury by slapping Conor Benn with an egg at a chaotic face-off ahead of their fight.
Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn turned their pre-fight face-off into absolute mayhem, with Eubank launching an egg slap at his bitter rival’s face during a chaotic media conference in Manchester.
The two British boxers, set to fight at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 26 April, clashed throughout the event, trading insults and behaving more like feuding schoolboys than professional athletes. The tension boiled over when they squared up for the traditional stare-down, and Eubank, without warning, pulled an egg from his pocket and smacked Benn across the cheek.
The move sent Benn into a furious rage as his father, Nigel Benn, stood beside him. Security guards rushed in to prevent an all-out brawl as the auditorium descended into chaos.
This fight has been years in the making. Their original 2022 bout was scrapped when Benn failed a voluntary drugs test, sparking a two-year battle with anti-doping authorities. His suspension was lifted in November 2023, with Benn maintaining he never intentionally doped.
In February 2023, the WBC issued a report suggesting his failed test could have been due to “highly elevated consumption” of eggs. Eubank took full advantage of this, taunting his opponent both physically and online.
“Apparently egg contamination was the reason for his two failed drugs tests. So I contaminated him with an egg,” Eubank gloated on social media, posting footage of the slap.
With tensions at boiling point, their fight in April is set to be one of the most explosive grudge matches in recent history.
