Rival sons of British boxing legends will clash again in November after chaos nearly killed the fight
The bitter grudge match between Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn is officially back on — and it’s heading for Tottenham Hotspur Stadium once again, with 15 November now locked in for the brutal rematch.
After a fierce first bout in April that saw Eubank Jr emerge victorious by unanimous decision, anticipation has surged for a second fight between the sons of two of British boxing’s most iconic names. Despite no championship on the line, the original bout captured the public’s imagination, echoing the intense rivalry between their fathers, Chris Eubank Sr and Nigel Benn, who famously clashed 35 years ago.
All three judges scored the April contest 116-112 in favour of Eubank, who fended off a smaller but ferocious Benn to seal a convincing win. The bout was tense, physical, and dramatic — a spectacle that left fans clamouring for more.
That rematch almost didn’t happen.
In June, both teams agreed to a 20 September date. But by mid-July, doubts emerged from Team Benn’s camp, with concerns swirling that Eubank wasn’t fully committed to the fight. Just three days later, Benn’s promoter Eddie Hearn called the whole thing “dead”. The silence from Eubank’s side only fuelled speculation.
Then came the twist.
Turki Alalshikh — the Saudi chairman of the General Entertainment Authority and now owner of Ring Magazine — stunned both camps by unilaterally announcing the September fight. While that date fell apart, Alalshikh remained the driving force behind getting the rematch back on track. Now, it’s finally happening — 15 November, back at Spurs’ north London fortress.
Embed from Getty ImagesHearn confirmed the new date via Instagram, and Ring Magazine also shared the announcement publicly. Eubank Jr and his team, however, have yet to comment.
The original fight was part theatre, part war. In true WWE fashion, Chris Eubank Sr made a dramatic appearance on the night, further fuelling the narrative. Meanwhile, Eubank Jr — drained by a brutal weight cut and restricted by a strict rehydration clause — managed to outbox and outlast a tenacious Benn.
That fight had no right to be as entertaining as it was. It was chaos packaged perfectly, and fans adored it. But now the question is: can lightning strike twice?
The stage is set. The animosity remains. The bloodline rivalry still burns. And both fighters have something to prove — Benn wants redemption; Eubank wants closure.
While neither has a belt on the line, what’s at stake is legacy. Benn wants to avenge not only his own loss but also his father’s infamous draw and defeat to Eubank Sr. Eubank Jr, meanwhile, sees the rematch as another opportunity to solidify his name as more than just a famous son.
There are still unanswered questions. Will there be another controversial clause regarding weight or rehydration? Will both fighters be fully fit come fight night? Will Eubank finally address the delay and breakdown in communication?
And crucially — can promoters recapture the magic of that unforgettable April clash?
We’ll find out on 15 November, under the floodlights of Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where history will again echo through the fists of two fierce legacies.
