Singer-songwriter Eric Carmen, best known for his chart-topping song “All By Myself,” has passed away at the age of 74, as confirmed by his wife.

Eric Carmen, a prominent figure in the music industry, initially gained fame as a member of the power pop group the Raspberries before embarking on a successful solo career.

His solo hit “Hungry Eyes,” featured in the cult classic film “Dirty Dancing” in 1987, solidified his status as a solo artist.

In a heartfelt statement on Carmen’s official website, his wife Amy announced his passing, expressing gratitude for the profound impact Carmen’s music had on listeners worldwide.

She concluded her statement with a poignant quote from Carmen’s 1977 solo album, “Boats Against The Current,” emphasizing the enduring power of love in his music.

Born in Ohio, Carmen co-founded the Raspberries in the early 1970s, achieving chart success with tracks like “Go All The Way.”

Following the band’s breakup in 1975, Carmen pursued a solo career, producing hits such as “All By Myself,” famously covered by Canadian singer Celine Dion.

His songwriting prowess extended to hits like “Almost Paradise” from the “Footloose” soundtrack, along with “Never Gonna Fall In Love Again” and “Make Me Lose Control.”

Carmen’s musical contributions spanned decades, leaving an indelible mark on the industry and touching the hearts of fans worldwide.
