Singer says Cherry’s ‘Suffolk lens’ helps separate his fame from family life.

Ed Sheeran may be one of the most recognisable pop stars on the planet, but behind the Grammys and global tours is a man who’s found peace in the quiet strength of his childhood sweetheart, Cherry Seaborn.

Appearing on the Call Her Daddy podcast with host Alex Cooper, the 34-year-old opened up about how fame changed the very fabric of his relationships—and how his wife of five years became the unshakable centre in the storm.

“Relationships wise—not just romantic—but just relationships in my life, friendships, family, everything shifted,” Sheeran confessed, reflecting on the early years of sudden stardom.

Caught between the expectations of pop celebrity and his own identity, Sheeran said he struggled to define whether he was “Ed Sheeran the pop star” all the time, or someone who could still play the role of son, friend, or husband without performance attached.

“Or whether there’s two human beings,” he pondered. “And I can be a son to my mum without having to be a pop star or a husband without having to be a pop star and then sort of separating the two.”

It’s in that separation, he says, that Cherry Seaborn plays the most important role. “Cherry is the biggest grounding force,” he declared.

The singer laughed as he described how his wife keeps him in check when the trappings of celebrity life threaten to overwhelm. “Anytime that anything is a little bit too Hollywood, she’s like, ‘Bro…’”

What makes their bond even more steadfast is their shared past. Having grown up together in Suffolk, Sheeran says Cherry brings a lens of authenticity that fame can’t erode.

That “Suffolk lens,” as he calls it, cuts through the glitz and keeps him rooted in reality.

The pair’s love story is already the stuff of modern fairy tales. Reconnecting after years apart, they married in 2018 in an intimate ceremony. Since then, they’ve welcomed two daughters, Lyra and Jupiter, further cementing their lives away from the spotlight.
