Derek Chisora earns his shot at Daniel Dubois’ IBF title after a brutal eliminator win—will it be his last fight?

Derek Chisora is officially the mandatory challenger for Daniel Dubois’ IBF world heavyweight title, promoter Frank Warren has confirmed. The 40-year-old veteran secured his shot after a decisive points victory over Otto Wallin in February, where he floored the Swede twice in what was designated as an IBF title eliminator.

Warren told Sky Sports, “Chisora is [an IBF mandatory]. He won it in his last fight and everyone knew what the fight was going to be for. He is the mandatory to our man, ‘Dangerous Dan [Dubois]’, so that’s the position he’s in.”

Chisora’s Last Dance?

Chisora, who has fought in 49 professional bouts, has hinted that his next fight could be his last. After enduring a punishing defeat against Tyson Fury in a WBC title challenge back in 2022, the British veteran has been vocal about retirement, suggesting he wants to go out with one final blockbuster fight.

“He wants a big fight to go out on,” Warren revealed. “Eddie [Hearn] and I have had a couple of chats today, and in due course, we’ll let people know our views on what we’ll do.”

Both Warren and Hearn, who have played key roles in Chisora’s long career, are reportedly working on a deal that could see the heavyweight bow out in spectacular fashion.

Dubois’ Next Move: Usyk or Chisora?

While Chisora has his sights firmly set on Dubois, the IBF champion has his own ambitions. Dubois is currently in pursuit of an undisputed title fight against WBC, WBA, and WBO champion Oleksandr Usyk. However, Usyk has also been ordered to defend his WBO belt against former world champion Joseph Parker, potentially complicating Dubois’ immediate plans.

Martin Bakole was initially expected to fight Efe Ajagba in an IBF final eliminator, but after suffering a brutal second-round knockout defeat to Parker, the path has been cleared for Chisora to step in.

Despite the uncertainty around Dubois’ next opponent, Chisora remains in pole position for the IBF shot. With speculation mounting, boxing fans eagerly await confirmation on whether the 40-year-old veteran will finally get his golden ticket—or if Dubois will take a different route in his bid for heavyweight supremacy.
