Sir David Jason, famed for his role as Derek Trotter, aka Del Boy, in the iconic British sitcom “Only Fools and Horses,” has broken his silence on the possibility of a comeback after fans were thrilled by recent photos of him in character.

The 83-year-old actor, who portrayed Del Boy from 1981 to 2003, addressed the speculation during the annual Only Fools and Horses Appreciation Society convention in Milton Keynes. Speaking to The Sun’s TV Mag, Sir David expressed enthusiasm for the idea of a comeback, stating, “Well, to be honest with you, we would like that to happen very much because not only did we enjoy it so much, but so did most of the British public. Because of that, we would love to do it.”

However, he tempered fans’ expectations by acknowledging the challenges of continuing the series without the original creator, John Sullivan, who passed away in April 2011. Sir David explained, “I don’t think we could do another episode of Only Fools And Horses because the brains behind it, Mr John Sullivan, is unfortunately no longer with us.”

Despite the likelihood of a new episode dimming, Sir David assured fans that the cast members cherish the memories of their time on the show. Notably, actors Roger Lloyd Pack (Trigger) and John Challis (Boycie) have also passed away in subsequent years.

While an Only Fools and Horses revival may remain a dream for fans, Sir David Jason is set to return to screens alongside Jay Blades from The Repair Shop in their upcoming show, “David And Jay’s Touring Toolshed.” The series will feature the duo exploring various air shows, steam rallies, county fairs, and vintage festivals across the UK, interacting with talented crafters and makers along the way.

Sharing his excitement about the new project and his camaraderie with Jay Blades, Sir David emphasised their shared sense of humour and mutual ability to engage in good-natured banter. The new series promises a blend of entertainment and craftsmanship, showcasing the duo’s chemistry and rapport.
