David Blaine reveals he forgot about a magic tattoo on his wrist—because it’s invisible to the eye.

David Blaine has spent decades bending reality and astounding audiences with death-defying stunts and mind-bending illusions—but even he can forget his own magic from time to time. In a new interview with People Magazine, the legendary illusionist, now 52, confessed that he once completely forgot about a tattoo he got for a trick… because it was literally invisible.

Speaking ahead of the release of his new National Geographic series David Blaine: Do Not Attempt, Blaine opened up about one of his more surreal ideas: a disappearing ink tattoo created with the help of renowned New York tattoo artist Bang Bang. The ink is so subtle, it’s only visible under a specific type of light.

“I made a playing card prediction. And I haven’t used it yet,” Blaine revealed. “As a matter of fact, I even forgot that I did it because it’s invisible.”

The magician laughed as he explained how easily the unique inked trick slipped his mind. “You just reminded me that I have this tattoo on my left wrist,” he said. “So I have an invisible tattoo that I didn’t even remember until you just told me.”

It’s classic Blaine—a man so immersed in the world of illusion that even his own body holds secrets he’s forgotten. The tattoo was intended for a future trick, a long-play stunt that has yet to be deployed. And if Blaine himself could forget it, it’s safe to say the audience will never see it coming.

Known for pushing the limits of what the human body and mind can endure, Blaine has submerged himself in water for days, stood encased in ice, and even dangled above city streets in a box for weeks. But in this new series, David Blaine: Do Not Attempt, he’s taking viewers behind the curtain to witness the often surreal preparations that go into his performances.

He recalled how his passion for magic bleeds into everyday life—quite literally. “At rehearsal for Jimmy Kimmel, I ended up doing magic for the entire staff,” he said. “And on the airplane here, same thing. I was doing magic for everybody working on the plane and all the people in line for the bathroom.”

Blaine says it’s not unusual for him to wake up mid-trick. “That’s a constant. I fall asleep with a deck of cards in my hands and wake up with cards stuck to my face and body almost every day.”

With each new performance, Blaine continues to push boundaries, merging endurance, illusion, and unpredictability. His invisible tattoo may be a footnote in his catalogue of wonders, but it perfectly encapsulates his lifelong dedication to keeping audiences guessing.

As David Blaine: Do Not Attempt prepares to hit screens, fans can expect more of the mind-bending marvels he’s become famous for—though perhaps with a touch more of the personal, forgetful charm he displayed in this latest confession.

In a world where nearly everything can be seen, Blaine continues to remind us that the greatest magic might just be what’s hidden from view—even from the magician himself.
