The couple welcomed their daughter Alma Grace on October 24, family sources confirm
Chris Evans has officially entered dad mode, the Captain America actor and his wife, Portuguese actress Alba Baptista, have quietly welcomed their first child together.
The couple’s baby girl, named Alma Grace Baptista Evans, was born on October 24 at 1:27pm in Massachusetts, according to multiple reports. The new arrival marks a major milestone for the pair, who celebrated their second wedding anniversary just last month.
News of the birth first broke through TMZ, which reported that Evans and Baptista, both 44 and 28 respectively, had become parents over the weekend. The couple have not yet commented publicly, but sources close to the family confirmed the happy news.
Rumours of a pregnancy began circulating over the summer after eagle-eyed fans noticed a cryptic Father’s Day exchange online. A fan page dedicated to the couple tagged both of their fathers in a celebratory post — prompting Alba’s father, Luiz Baptista, to leave a teasing comment: “Many thanks dear Chris. Your turn is coming!”
The remark quickly fuelled speculation that the pair were expecting, though neither Chris nor Alba addressed the whispers at the time.

The famously private couple tied the knot on September 9, 2023, in an intimate ceremony at Evans’s Cape Cod home, surrounded by close family and friends. Guests reportedly included several of the actor’s Marvel co-stars, including Robert Downey Jr., Jeremy Renner and Chris Hemsworth.
A source told People magazine shortly after their wedding that Evans “knew she was the one” from the very beginning. “They got serious very quickly,” the insider said. “He kept saying he knew she was the one. He can’t wait to have a family — he was just waiting for the right person.”
Alba, who is best known for her role in Netflix’s Warrior Nun, has been described by those close to the couple as “smart, kind, and grounded”. The same source added: “She’s very positive, very happy — and that’s rubbed off on him. It’s the best news that they’re married and now starting a family.”
Evans, who previously dated actresses including Jenny Slate and Minka Kelly, has spoken openly about wanting to settle down and start a family. In an interview before his marriage, he said: “When you meet the right person, life just opens up. That’s what I’ve been looking for.”
The couple went public with their relationship after their wedding, making their red carpet debut at the Vanity Fair Oscars Afterparty in March 2024. Evans turned heads in a crimson suit, while Baptista stunned in a strapless black-and-cream gown.
While the pair are expected to keep their daughter’s early life private, friends say the new parents are “over the moon” and adjusting well to life with their newborn.
“Family means everything to Chris,” another insider told US Weekly. “He’s hands-on and protective already. He’s waited a long time for this.”
